Archie James Franklin McBroom Reunion 2012

60 descendants of Archie James Franklin McBroom and Minnie Mae Mills McBroom got together on August 4, 2012, at the Batesville, Mississippi home of Nell McBroom Foshee and Roger Foshee for their first reunion since 1998.

The family also used this occasion to recognize the 80th birthdays of both Betty Jean McBroom Wilson and Scoot Wilson.  Just before lunch, the family gathered and sang Happy Birthday, and presented Betty Jean and Scoot with a birthday cake.  Brenda Wilson May placed three candles on the cake to represent "Past, Present, and Future".

Lunch was hamburgers, hot dogs, brats, baked beans, chips, and potato salad followed by plemty of birthday cake, caramel cake, and brownie bites.

After lunch, family photos were made both inside and out, and the photo sessions were followed by a genealogy discussion of the family, and the day wrapped up with a slide show of of family photos.

While the adults looked over family history and told stories, the children (lots of children) present stayed entertained by swimming in the pool, and swinging on the swings.

Williamson GED File of 6K+ McBrooms

Mr. Leslie Williamson of Scotland has been kind enough to forward us a copy of his GED file. This file is the result of two or three years of work, and contains information on over 10,000 individuals, 6,000 of those being McBrooms, and over 3,500 families. Who Was William McBroom?

There were at least seven William McBrooms in the United States during the year 1785. That would be surprising, if it wasn’t for the fact that every other McBroom male in America is named William, James, John, or Thomas. What we lack in a prolific nature is challenged in degree only by our lack of imagination when it comes to naming our male offspring.
